The field notes

What to come here for.

Amara publishes unusually accessible detail about its physical setup: a 72 × 160-foot indoor, a larger outdoor, jumping areas, trails and grass paddocks with sheds. The farm’s lesson and boarding pages make it a useful starting point for a southern Vermont search, particularly for dressage or eventing.

The full-board and turnout-board prices should stay in separate columns. A lower boarding number is meaningful only after the living arrangement and owner responsibilities are clear. The published rates are undated, so use them to frame a conversation, then replace them with a current quote before budgeting.

Our reading of the offer

A useful two-option boarding inquiry. Compare the care arrangements first and update the undated prices second.

The boarding arrangement.

Published reference · USD

$750 full board · $525 turnout board

These are undated published monthly rates. Turnout board is a separate care arrangement; confirm both current prices and inclusions.

Review this reference in the planner ↗

A zero additional commitment in the planner means no separate requirement was identified on the reviewed pages. It is still a question to confirm with the farm.

Lessons & getting started.

$40 / 30 minutes · $70 / hour

Published private lesson rates. The site also lists one-hour group lessons for three or more riders at $30 each. School horses are available for children and adults.

School-horse status: Mounted school-horse lessons. An advertised service does not establish a current opening or a suitable match.

Facilities & daily care.

  • 72 × 160-foot indoor and 100 × 200-foot outdoor
  • 12 × 12-foot stalls and grass paddocks with sheds
  • Stadium jumping, cross-country areas and trails
  • Wash stall, heated tack room and on-site presence

These are operator descriptions. The list is selective and does not establish every inclusion in a boarding contract.

Take these to the farm

Three useful questions.

  1. What is included in turnout board, and when is a stall available?
  2. Are the posted lesson and boarding rates still in effect?
  3. How is indoor access shared between lessons and independent riding?
