The field notes

What to come here for.

Mead’s program reaches beyond mounted lessons into grooming, tacking up and a day-long introduction to horse ownership. That gives a prospective owner a practical question to ask: can the first few visits include supervised care as well as riding?

Its boarding page is useful about the division of work. Daily stall cleaning, standard grain, hay, bedding and weather-dependent turnout are listed; assistance for visiting professionals is extra. The missing base rate means there is no honest monthly total to display here. Ask for the rate and the expected extra-service bill together.

Our reading of the offer

A useful first inquiry for learning the whole routine. Boarders need a full quote, including handling charges.

Request a boarding quote

The boarding page publishes inclusions and extra-service prices, but no base boarding rate. Vet and farrier assistance are listed as extra services.

A zero additional commitment in the planner means no separate requirement was identified on the reviewed pages. It is still a question to confirm with the farm.

Lessons & getting started.

$135 / private half hour

New students must take a private half-hour assessment. The rates page lists $170 for 45 minutes and $200 for an hour. A helmet can be borrowed for the first lesson; seasonal blocks have separate terms.

School-horse status: Mounted school-horse lessons. An advertised service does not establish a current opening or a suitable match.

Facilities & daily care.

  • Daily stall mucking and pelletized bedding
  • Standard barn grain and timothy-mix hay
  • Group or individual turnout, weather permitting
  • Additional charges for a range of handling and grooming services

These are operator descriptions. The list is selective and does not establish every inclusion in a boarding contract.

Take these to the farm

Three useful questions.

  1. Which program combines mounted instruction with supervised horse care?
  2. What is the current monthly boarding rate and usual extra-service schedule?
  3. How are lessons and turnout handled during prolonged poor weather?
